On this National Doctor’s Day, we’d like to highlight the story of family medicine physician, Dr. Ashely Denmark, who wrote a book with her daughter Olivia to inspire other children to become doctors. Read her inspiring story below.

“I was 9 months pregnant with my daughter Olivia when I first started medical school in 2011. So many people said it was not possible for me to go to medical school and a be mother at the same time. Rather than give up, the birth of my daughter inspired me to go for my dreams of becoming a doctor and she has been with me every step of the journey.

From my white coat ceremony to my medical school graduation in 2015 when I walked across the stage and was announced as Dr. Ashley Denmark, my daughter has been right by my side cheering me on.

She and I have teamed up to inspire other children to pursue their dreams and wrote a book called Olivia’s Doctor Adventures (now on Amazon) which teaches kids about different medical specialties such as Neurosurgeon, Anesthesiologist, Pediatrician, Dentist, Pharmacist and so much more. It’s our hope this book give children the courage to be fearless in the pursuit of their dreams.”- Dr. Denmark

Dr. Denmark, thank you for using your platform to inspire the next generation of doctors!
