Excellence runs in the family for twin sisters Llayna and Saniah Maul.

Tallahassee news outlet, WTXL-27, reports the driven duo has been named valedictorian and salutatorian of the Amos B. Godby High School Class of 2024 in Tallahassee, FL.

“It’s just been both of us trying really hard at school,” valedictorian Llayna shared. The sisters’ achievements are a testament to their dedication to education and respect for their teachers. “They’re dedicating their lives to be able to teach you. It’s worthwhile to just focus and pay attention and really put forth that effort to make them proud,” Llayna explained.

As they prepare to walk the stage, Llayna and Saniah are already looking ahead to their future academic endeavors. They are currently taking classes at Tallahassee Community College, getting a head start on their college studies. “I don’t work for the A or the high GPA. I work just so I can be the best I can be,” Saniah expressed.

The sisters credit their mother, Annie Leonard, for their motivation to excel. Leonard, an alumna of Amos B. Godby High School, reflects on the full-circle moment with pride. “It’s just wonderful, it’s come back full circle,” she said. Leonard added, “I made sure that my children would have the opportunities that I wish I had. …My daughters are wonderful, but they’re doing what anybody can do with support.”

Llayna and Saniah will officially graduate on May 22, 2024, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey. Their advice for others striving for success is straightforward yet powerful. “Apply yourself, ask for help, and then the grades and the success will come with that,” Saniah advised.
