Queue the tissues. Sharonda Wilson’s graduation from Ferris State University was held on the same day as her son’s graduation from Central Michigan University. In true mommy fashion, Sharonda decided to forego her commencement exercises so she could be present when her son, Stephan’s, name was called.

In a video shared on Central Michigan University’s official Twitter account, Wilson was surprised when she was handed a cap for her degree to be conferred as she stood beside her son.

In it, Bob Davies, President of CMU shared that he contacted Ferris State President David Eisler to gain permission to grant Sharon her degree on Eisler’s behalf.

As President Davies instructed Sharonda to move her tassel from her right to her left tears rolled down Stephan’s face and the crowd erupted.

While Ferris State University’s website lists its Spring Commencement as May 10th and 11th, graduation for Ferris Statewide & Online students was on May 4th in conjunction with Southwestern Michigan College.

We’re so glad this worked out for everyone involved!
