“My dad, Ty Pope is here tonight, he is a professional bodybuilder and a pastor when I was growing up and didn’t disown me, when I told him, I wanted to be a Destiny’s Child. I’m so grateful for our relationship and your dedication to being the best father you could be for me.” –… pic.twitter.com/VrHnq09XFb

While delivering his acceptance speech, he chose to honor his special guest who was none other than someone near and dear to his heart, his father. “One of my heroes is here tonight.” Pope said as the camera panned to his father in the audience, “My dad Ty Pope is here tonight. He is a professional bodybuilder. And a pastor when I was growing up. And didn’t disown me when I told him I wanted to be in Destiny’s Child.” He continued to say, “I’m so grateful for our relationship and your dedication to being the best father you could be.”
