Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka are holding it down at Wimbledon!
Both tennis stars have officially reached their first-ever Wimbledon quarterfinals, marking a major moment for Black women in tennis and giving fans plenty to celebrate.
Osaka earned her spot after taking down world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a huge fourth-round win. The victory marked Osaka’s first trip to the Wimbledon quarterfinals and one of her biggest wins since returning to the sport after giving birth to her daughter.
Gauff followed with a battle of her own, defeating Belinda Bencic in a late-night three-set match that came down to the wire. After dropping the first set, Gauff fought back and closed it out just before Wimbledon’s curfew, securing her own first-ever quarterfinal appearance at the tournament.
