One dad made sure his daughter had something extra special to wear to prom.
Designer Brently Pearson took to Instagram to share the process of making his daughter’s prom dress from scratch, stitching together a custom look for one of the biggest nights of her high school experience.
For Pearson, the project meant even more because he never got the chance to attend his own high school prom.
“This was very special to me because I didn’t get to go to my H.S prom. But I’m happy she enjoyed hers,” he wrote.

Pearson documented the process at his sewing machine, carefully constructing the dress and working through some of the trickier details along the way. He also credited Lionel Nichols for helping him with the pattern for the bottom of the gown and photographer @kayshot.it for capturing the finished look.
“She needed a dress so dad delivered,” Pearson wrote, before asking his followers how he did on his very first prom dress.
The final result made the already meaningful night even more personal. Instead of shopping for a dress, his daughter got to walk into prom wearing something created specifically for her by her dad.
Pearson is also connected to fashion professionally through Borne Perfect Clothing, and his tailoring work has previously been featured in celebrity fashion and wedding projects. LinkedIn
Still, making his daughter’s first prom dress was its own kind of milestone.
He may not have gotten his own prom night, but helping make hers special gave this dad a memory of his own.
