One daughter turned a family trip into a reunion her mom never saw coming.
Kansas City lifestyle creator La’Shonda, known online as @fashionplatekc, surprised her mother with a trip to Chicago. But before they made it there, she had one more stop planned in St. Louis.
Waiting there was her mom’s best friend of 40 years, whom she had not seen in person in 15 years.
La’Shonda shared the emotional reunion online, explaining that she intentionally kept the video mostly unedited so viewers could experience the moment as it happened.

“I wanted you to experience the raw fullness of this encounter between my mom and her best friend,” she wrote, describing the reunion as “pure, intentional and just loving.”
In the video, the longtime friends immediately become emotional as they see each other again, embracing and crying together after more than a decade apart.

For La’Shonda, the surprise was about more than adding another stop to the trip. It was a chance to bring two women who have shared decades of friendship back into the same room.
She later shared what she hoped people would take away from watching the moment: that everyone deserves to have a good friend they can count on.
