They’re making a difference in Greensboro!
Students at North Carolina A&T recently helped launch a Greensboro chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a volunteer-driven nonprofit that builds and delivers beds to children who do not have one of their own.
The newly formed NC-Greensboro chapter is led by A&T students Ryan Pennington and Ahmad Blair, with Pennington serving as chapter president and Blair serving as vice president.
The mission is simple but powerful: no kid sleeps on the floor. Sleep in Heavenly Peace provides beds at no cost to children ages 3 to 17 who are sleeping in places like floors, sofas, air mattresses, or shared beds.
From cutting wood to full bed builds to home deliveries, the work is hands-on, community-driven, and deeply personal. Volunteers come together to build beds, gather bedding, and help give children something that may seem simple, but can change so much.
A bed means better sleep, better health, and a better chance for a child to show up ready for school and life. One bed can change everything.
Now, thanks to the work of students at A&T, that impact is growing in Greensboro, one bed at a time.
We see you, and we applaud the change you’re making while pursuing your degrees!
