Chadwick Boseman
Chadwick Aaron Boseman was born in Anderson, South Carolina and raised by parents who worked in a textile plant and a nursing career. He studied directing at Howard University under Phylicia Rashad and graduated from the British American Drama Academy in London.
Boseman built his career portraying real-life icons with extraordinary depth and humanity: Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in Get On Up, and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall. Each performance was a masterclass in channeling the spirit of a legend.
In 2018, he became a global icon as T'Challa in Black Panther — the first major Black superhero film from Marvel. The movie grossed $1.3 billion worldwide and became a cultural phenomenon. Throughout his four-year battle with colon cancer — which the public never knew about — Boseman continued working, visiting children's hospitals, and inspiring millions. He died at age 43, and the world mourned a king.
"The only difference between a hero and a villain is that the villain chooses to use that power in a way that is selfish and hurts other people."— Chadwick Boseman
