Congratulations are in order!
The 2024 Urban One honorees have been announced, and there are some familiar names on the list, including Dionne Warwick and Frankie Beverly. The Urban One Honors is considered to be “the ultimate celebration of Black Excellence.” This year’s theme will be “Best In Black.” Warwick will be named as the Lifetime Achievement honoree, while Beverly is the Living Legend.
In addition to them, Chlöe and Donald Lawrence will also be celebrated at the event. Chlöe is set to receive the Generation Next Honor, while Lawrence will receive the Inspirational Impact Award.
“As we unveil the lineup for this year’s ‘Urban One Honors,’ we are delighted to highlight the incredible musical journeys of Dionne Warwick, Chlöe, Frankie Beverly, and Donald Lawrence. Their selection as honorees is a recognition of their profound impact on both music and culture, spanning generations,” said Michelle Rice, President of TV One and CLEO TV, in a statement.
She continued, “From soulful ballads to timeless contributions and contemporary brilliance, these iconic artists have not only shaped the musical landscape but have also contributed significantly to the cultural fabric of our society. Each honoree represents a unique chapter in the story of music, and we are honored to celebrate their enduring legacies at this year’s Urban One Honors: Best In Black.”
The award show will be the start of TV One‘s 20th anniversary celebrations, which will occur throughout the rest of 2024. Viewers will have the opportunity to watch special programming featuring curated retrospectives, exclusive behind-the-scenes content, and a series of commemorative events.
The 2024 Urban One Honors will be held on Jan. 20 in Atlanta and will air on Feb. 25 on TV One and CLEO TV.
