Issa Rae Launches New Record Label In Partnership With Atlantic Records

Issa Rae is in competition with no one but herself!

The HBO star recently announced the launch of her new record label, Raedio, a joint venture with Atlantic Records, reports Billboard.

The new label is marketing itself as an “audio everywhere company,” focused on talent placement in film, TV, commercials, podcasts and more. The label will also be overseeing music services for HBO’s newest comedy, A Black Lady Sketch Show, which Rae is a producer of, in addition to signing and developing new talent.

Rae’s hit show Insecure is known for its music, just as much as its storyline. The show helped to highlight artists such as SZA, Saweetie and Rico Nasty. Rae says her love of music and affinity for spotlighting female, independent and Los Angeles based artists led her to this new endeavor.

“Music has always been an essential part of every project I do and working with emerging talent is a personal passion. Raedio allows me to continue that work within the music industry and audio entertainment space,” Rae said.

Raedio launched with a single from new Haitian-American singer TeaMarrr. The singer/rapper was brought to Rae’s attention after her 2018 hit “One Job,” exploded, raking up over 1 million streams. Raedio dropped TeaMarrr’s new song “Kinda Love,” along with the video featuring Issa Rae late last week.

Julie Greenwald, Atlantic chairman and COO said, “Issa Rae is a next-level, future-thinking creative force who’s been breaking down cultural barriers and conquering one field after another. She’s made music a central character in her artistic evolution, and now she’s brought all that amazing passion, inspiration, and taste to the formation of Raedio. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Issa and her team on this exciting new venture, and TeaMarrr is the perfect artist to  launch with.”

Rae has been extremely busy lately, becoming the newest face of Cover Girl, launching into the tech world with her investment in Streamlytics, and becoming the first female celebrity voice of Google Assistant. We can barely keep up with her and now she’s off to conquer the music industry!

The multi hyphenate creative spoke of her new partnership saying, “The Atlantic Records team are innovators in terms of shifting and shaping culture. I’m excited to join forces with them to discover new artists.”

Can’t wait to see what greatness comes from this! Congratulations Issa!
