Kenan Thompson Set To Host 74th Emmy Awards

He is officially “all that!”

NBC and Television Academy has chosen comedian and actor Kenan Thompson to be the host of the 74th Annual Emmy Awards this September.

Thompson is not new to the hosting game, he hosted the 2021 Kids’ Choice Awards and 47th People's Choice Awards. Now, NBC chose someone from the family, picking the Saturday Night Live (SNL) star to grace the stage again as the host of the 2022 Emmy Awards.

Kenan spoke on his upcoming gig in a statement, saying “Being a part of this incredible evening where we honor the best of the television community is ridiculously exciting, and to do it on NBC – my longtime network family – makes it even more special,” he continued to say  “Like all TV fans, I can’t wait to see the stars from my favorite shows.”

NBC’s Executive VP of Live Events, Jen Neal said “Kenan is well-regarded as one of the funniest, likable, and accomplished performers of the last two decades, and his tenure on Saturday Night Live speaks for itself.’

Thompson has been a beacon of light for Black actors. While many know him for his comedic presence on SNL, which dates back to 2003, he got his big break back in 1994 on the hit Nickelodeon show “All that!” From television and film to voicing iconic characters, Kenan is the consummate professional and an exciting host for this year’s Emmys.
