This lineup is full of trailblazers!
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® just added a history-making class of honorary members to its sisterhood, and it’s one for the books. The announcement came during the sorority’s 2025 Leadership Seminar, “Pathways to Soar: Unlocking Impactful Leadership,” held in Anaheim, California, where more than 9,000 members gathered from around the world.
This year’s class is packed with trailblazers:
Laura Coates, CNN’s Chief Legal Analyst and Anchor, and the first Black woman to hold the title
Karine Jean-Pierre, the first Black person and longest-serving woman to serve as White House Press Secretary
Beverly Johnson, supermodel, actress, entrepreneur, and the first Black woman to grace the cover of Vogue
Gabby Thomas, Olympic medalist and the first Ivy League graduate to win an Olympic track & field medal
Each of these women has shattered ceilings in their fields while using their platforms to uplift others. Their induction is a celebration of leadership, legacy, and the power of service in action.
Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Honorary Membership is the highest honor the sorority bestows, recognizing those who embody its core values of scholarship, service, and sisterhood, the organization says. Under the leadership of International President and CEO Danette Anthony Reed, this year’s induction was a beautiful reminder of what it means to lead with impact.
Congratulations to the newest members of this historic and powerful sisterhood!
