This one’s been a long time coming — and it’s so well deserved!
Glynn Turman, the Emmy Award-winning actor and storyteller whose career has spanned over six decades, is finally getting his flowers in a major way. From making his Broadway debut at just 12 years old in A Raisin in the Sun alongside legends Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee, to starring in classics like Cooley High, Peyton Place, A Different World, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and most recently Black Cake, Turman’s impact on stage and screen runs deep. And now, he’s is being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On July 10, Turman will receive the 2,816th star in the category of Motion Pictures, with his star fittingly placed right next to his friend and A Raisin in the Sun co-star Sidney Poitier’s, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce reports.
Helping celebrate this milestone will be Ava DuVernay and Don Cheadle, both set to speak at the ceremony.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is honored to welcome Glynn Turman with this well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” said Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer. “His exceptional talents and dedication to the craft of acting have left an indelible mark on the industry, and we are proud to immortalize his legacy on this iconic boulevard.”
Congrats, Mr. Turman!
