He’s turning words of resistance into a rallying cry for the nation.
Senator Cory Booker, the New Jersey Democrat, who made history in April with the longest continuous Senate floor speech in U.S. history, has transformed his powerful oratory into a forthcoming book titled Stand. The book, announced by St. Martin’s Press, will be released on November 11, 2025, People reports.
Booker’s speech, clocking in at 25 hours and 5 minutes, captured national attention as he stood in opposition to numerous Trump administration policies, including cuts to Social Security offices and a proposal to make Canada part of the United States. His marathon message was more than a political stand; it was a moral one. And now, through Stand, he’s inviting the country to join him in that stand.
“This book is about the virtues vital to our success as a nation and lessons we can draw from generations of Americans who fought for them,” Booker said in an official statement. “Now is not the time to surrender to cynicism or abandon our most noble ideals. Now is the time to defiantly declare like our ancestors before us: I too stand for America.”
Booker’s extraordinary feat surpassed the record held by South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond, who infamously spoke for 24 hours and 18 minutes in 1957 to oppose the Civil Rights Act. But Booker made it clear: he wasn’t speaking to outdo Thurmond, he was speaking despite him. “I’m here because as powerful as he was, the people are more powerful,” he declared during the speech, which began at approximately 7 p.m. on March 31 and was backed by 1,164 pages of prepared remarks.
Throughout the speech, fellow Democrats posed questions to give Booker brief moments of respite, an act of solidarity that reflected the very values Booker champions in Stand. The book “explores how our choices today shape the future — and offers a passionate call to conscience and a guide for courageous engagement,” according to the official synopsis.
For executive editor Tim Bartlett of St. Martin’s Publishing Group, the speech was a call to action of its own. Moved by Booker’s words, Bartlett approached the senator with the idea to expand the moment into something lasting. The result is a book that promises to be both urgent and timeless.
Stand continues Booker’s legacy as a public servant, activist, and New York Times bestselling author, reminding us all that while opposition is necessary, what we choose to stand for is what defines us.
On November 11, 2025, the podium becomes the page. And Booker invites the nation to stand with him.
