Earlier this month, a routine stroll for 69-year-old grandmother, Sandra Adams, resulted in her disappearance and a 5-day missing person search. After a few days of searching with family, officials called the search off believing they exhausted all options. However, Adams’ grandson and his friends felt compelled to search one last time.

Grandson, Nate Cassel, and his friend Shawn Willis told WSOC they believed Adams was near her North Carolina apartment. She was known for walking around the complex but always returned. Yet when the family went to visit her on July 5 she wasn’t there and was last seen that Wednesday.

“He wanted to go look in the woods. I woke up this morning with the same idea: Let’s go search the woods in the neighborhood,” Willis said.

Cassel and his friends searched for a quarter of a mile until they found her laying face down in a creek bed, WSOC reports. When Cassel saw her, he immediately thought she was deceased and called family.

Thankfully, when officers arrived and approached her body, she shocked everyone and raised her arm in the air.

“It’s a blessing. It’s a blessing, a big blessing,” Cassel said. “A miracle. She’s a strong lady.”

According to police, Adams shared she fell during her walk.

Sending love and light to Ms. Adams and a huge kudos to Cassel and his friends for going the extra mile to find his grandmother! We’re so glad it ended well!
