LET’S GOOOOOOOOO!
This week has been a year, and with the November election fast approaching and President Biden’s recent departure from the race, many have followed POTUS’ suit and put their support behind Vice President Kamala Harris as the new Democratic nominee. Last week, nearly 100,000 Black women and men gathered virtually to raise almost $3 million in support of VP Harris in a matter of hours. Celebrities also came out in droves, publicly declaring their support for the VP, as well as an official statement from the Divine Nine. Now, the Obamas have also declared that “they’re with her,” calling VP Harris personally in a new heartwarming endorsement for president.
“Kamala!,” former President Barack Obama starts the call.
“Hey, there!,” former First Lady Michelle Obama chimes in.
“Aw…Hi, you’re both together! Oh, it’s good to hear you both!,” VP Harris enthusiastically responds.
The Obamas then proceeded to share encouraging words with the VP, letting her know how proud they were and excited to publicly endorse her.
“I can’t have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala: I am proud of you. This is going to be historic,” said Michelle Obama.
“We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” added Barack Obama.
VP Harris, visibly moved, maintained her composure on the call, letting the Obamas know how much their endorsement and friendship meant to her.
“Oh, my goodness. Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me. I am looking forward to doing this with the two of you. Doug and I both. And getting out there, being on the road. But most of all, I just want to tell you that the words you have spoken and the friendship that you have given over all these years mean more than I can express. So, thank you both. It means so much! And, we’re gonna have some fun with this, too, aren’t we?,” said VP Harris.
The moment was not only endearing but a pivotal torch pass from the Obamas to VP Harris, who if elected, would make history as the first Black woman President ever. The Howard University grad previously ran for President in 2020, withdrawing her candidacy after being chosen to be VP in what would become the Biden-Harris administration. As she gears up for another jab at it, there are no two people who would understand more, just how monumental it would be for her to be elected than the Obamas. Their support as VP Harris attempts this great feat is monumental.
“Earlier this week, we called our friend and told her that we think she’d make a fantastic President of the United States. We’re proud to endorse Vice President [Kamala Harris] to be our Democratic nominee. Let’s go make history again,” the Obamas captioned the heartwarming video.
Alright, troops…we ride at dawn!
