Tyler Perry Surprises Seniors Across The Country By Buying Their Groceries

April 9, 2020

Can’t forget about our elders!

Entertainment mogul Tyler Perry is buying groceries for seniors across the United States, WJCL reports.

During senior hours at Kroger stores in Georgia this past week, Perry picked up the tab, allowing all those who shopped to leave with free groceries. He did the same at Winn-Dixie grocery stores in his hometown of Louisiana.

Shoppers were told that an Atlanta angel paid for their items, with Perry covering the tab for 44 Kroger stores and 30 Winn-Dixie grocers. Many stores have set aside specific early morning hours for seniors to shop for their groceries, since they are at a higher risk of contracting the coronavirus. The random act of kindness is just another in a long list of good deeds Perry has orchestrated to give back and help various communities during times of crisis.

Perry recently took to social media to share how he’d been personally impacted by COVID-19, with the loss of one of his longtime crew members, Mr. Charles Gregory, a hair stylist that worked with Perry who recently passed away from the virus. Perry encouraged people to be aware of what’s going on and stick to the social distancing guidelines. Adding that we all needed to “be [our] own help,” during this time.

Thank you for all you’re doing TP! You are appreciated.
