Raised primarily by Brandy in St. Louis, she balanced multiple jobs and college classes as a single mother, according to PEOPLE. She supported Jayson through his high school basketball career and was by his side during a serious foot injury before his freshman year at Duke.

Jayson has always cherished his bond with his mom, calling himself ‘the biggest mama’s boy ever’ in a 2016 ESPN interview.
