Amanda Gorman Wows The Country With Her Inauguration Poem, ‘The Hill We Climb’

She was radiating Black girl magic!

Today, there were many highlights during this historic 59th inauguration, but poet Amanda Gorman has enamored the country. The youngest poet in inauguration history recited “The Hill We Climb,” the poem she wrote the day of the capitol insurrection on Jan. 6th. Her beautiful stanzas, “We, the successors of a country and a time where a skinny black girl descended from slaves and raised by a single mother can dream of becoming president only to find herself reciting for one,” have resonated with a country trying to heal from a tumultuous and dangerous presidency.
