Ahead of this evening’s Met Gala and its celebration of Black dandyism, Ivy-Victoria Maurice, daughter of beloved actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, took a heartfelt moment on social media to honor her late grandmother, Ivy Ralph.
In her post, Ivy reflected on the life and lasting influence of her grandmother, a pioneer in Jamaican fashion and the visionary behind the iconic Kariba suit. She spoke proudly about the powerful foundation her grandmother laid, one stitched with culture, dignity, and pride.
“On this #MetGalaMonday, I pause to reflect and honor the life and legacy of my grandmother, Ivy Ralph—the creator of the iconic Kariba/Kareeba suit,” @ivycoco23 wrote. “A pioneer in Jamaican fashion, she stitched dignity, culture, and beauty into every design… Today is the day, the whole world will know about you, GRANDY! It is my duty to carry on your legacy! I love you, my angel.”
